Joint Personnel Handle Inundation at Matraman Underpass

Central Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency handled inundation at Matraman Underpass, Senen.

The underpass will be opened again

The water which previously inundated the area by 50 cm of height is starting to recede. It is targeted that the vehicles can pass the underpass by this noon.

Central Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency's Fire Handling Operational and Rescue Section Head, Ahmad Syaiful said his side received the inundation report at 6 AM. Then he directly deployed personnel to handle the inundation.

"We deployed two pump vehicles with 10 personnel," he said, Saturday (2/8).

He explained that the inundation started to recede at 10 AM, but the Water Resource personnel needed to clean the area ensuring no blockage on the channel.

Central Jakarta Water Resource Sub-agency's Flood Handling Facility Management Section Head, Yusuf Saud Marpaung admitted his side deployed one mobile pump to suck the water with its 10 personnel.

"One mobile pump with 150 liter per second capacity was deployed. Then we also cleaned the area to make sure no blockage," he admitted.

Central Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency Head, M Sholeh, explained that the inundation at Matraman Underpass was triggered by heavy rain since last night up to this morning. The stationary pump at the underpass could not operate maximally due to technical problem.

His side is repairing the stationary pump.

"The underpass will be opened again right after the cleaning process is complete," he explained.
