41 Wild Cats in Cikoko Sterilized

About 41 wild cats in Cikoko, Pancoran Sub-district were sterilized by South Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture Sub-agency through its free program.

Totally we have sterilized 103 cats in this early year

South Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture Sub-agency's Animal Husbandry and Health Section Head, Irawati Harry Artharini said the free sterilization program is run for wild cats at RW 04, Cikoko.

"As usual, we always collaborate with Indonesian Environmental Care Foundation," she said, Friday (2/21).

Irawati explained that wild cat sterilization program is a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, which means catching, sterilizing and returning with the aim of controlling the cat population in a location.

Irawati added that those 41 sterilized cats were 36 male and five female.

"Totally we have sterilized 103 cats in this early year," she added.

Meanwhile, Dian (46), one of the residents appreciated the sub-agency for providing the program in the area. She admitted the wild cat population in the area is fast and uncontrolled.

"Hopefully the sterilization will lessen the wild cat population," she stated.
