5,803 Pets in Central Jakarta Sterilized from Rabies

The Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) recorded that 5,803 pets in Central Jakarta had sterilized in 2024.

This is free of charge. It is intensified in all urban villages

Central Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Penty Yunesi Pudyastuti explained the sterilization was focused on residential areas.

"This is free of charge. It is intensified in all urban villages," he said, Thursday (1/9).

11,586 Animals in South Jakarta Sterilized from Rabies

Of 5,803 animals, 1,064 were dogs, 4,690 were cats, 30 were monkeys, and 19 were weasels.

He explained last year's achievements exceeded the target set at 5,681 pets.

"This year, we are targeting to sterilize 2,000 pets," he explained.

Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Section Head, Herawati added she would immediately socialize the animal vaccination plan to the Executing Unit at the sub-district level.

Then, the Executing Unit would hold the same action to the lower level and determine the location of its implementation.

"We'll first prepare the area and location for implementation," she said.
