PT MRT Jakarta Director, Tuhiyat said the MRT Jakarta implemented strategies to attract more passengers to use public transportation as their daily mode of transport, such as lifestyle promotions and partnerships with feeder operators.

Vice Gov Rano Inspects Facilities in MRT and Transjakarta

"This shows that the consistency of MRT services, which meet international standards of safety, comfort, and reliability, has been present since the MRT first operated in 2019," he expressed, Wednesday (2/26).

Aside that, MRT Jakarta continues to promote the development and enhancement of areas around the stations with TOD principles such as mixed-use and green open spaces.

"In the future, besides the five TOD areas developed, there will be more areas around MRT stations, including Phase 2, that we will develop with a transit and interconnection concept," he explained.

Previously, Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno appreciated the MRT's services and development. He expressed this statement when he reviewed the MRT yesterday.

He directly observed and experienced the services at Lebak Bulus Station, Blok M BCA, and Bundaran HI Bank DKI. Further, he had the opportunity to see firsthand the interconnection area between Blok M Plaza and Blok M BCA Station, as well as the Martha Christina Tiahahu Literacy Park.

He stressed that one of the impacts of the development of the area around the station was to increase the occupancy of mall visitors, as happened in Blok M.

"Throughout the journey from Lebak Bulus earlier, I observed that there is still a need for the development of facilities and infrastructure in the area around the station, such as park and ride to accommodate personal vehicles from the southern areas of Jakarta," he added.

Even, MRT Jakarta already has a good master plan for the development of transit-oriented areas and hopes that Jakarta can rise in ranking from 74 to 50 as a Global City during the period of 2025 - 2030.

Thereby, the Jakarta Government encouraged and supported the accelerated development of the areas around the MRT stations to enhance services for the community. It also proposed that MRT stations could serve as a venue for the expression of art and culture for young artists in Jakarta.

"I visited to hear and see directly the planning for MRT development. I am optimistic that Jakarta will keep growing and becoming the center of the national economy and a global city based on Law Number 2/2024," he added.

During his working visit, he was accompanied by City Secretary, Marullah Matali and Jakarta Transportation Agency Head, Syafrin Liputo. They were received by PT MRT Jakarta Director, Tuhiyat and Business Development Director for MRT Jakarta, Farhad Mahfud.
