Food Station to Organize Cheap Market in 240 Locations this Ramadan

During Ramadan 1446 Hijri/2025, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya will bring cheap markets to 12 urban villages every day, ensuring Jakartans to have access to quality food at affordable prices.

"We will reach 240 points spread ac ross Jakarta until Eid,"

PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya President Director, Karyawan Gunarso stated that the cheap market will be held in 240 strategic locations until Eid.

"If it goes according to plan, we will reach 240 points spread across Jakarta until Eid," he mentioned, Tuesday (3/4).

Ramadan, Jakarta Provincial Government Anticipates Rise of Food Price

According to him, the coverage of cheap market locations this year is wider than previous year.

"Last year, the cheap market was only held in four urban villages a day on rotational basis using four mobile cars. This year, we have increased the number of locations to reach more people," he said.

Moreover, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya continues to run subsidized food program as its routine monthly agenda. This program aims to facilitate public access to basic neccessities and maintain price stability in the market.

"Through the subsidized food program, we distribute around 1,400 tons of rice, 250,000 trays of eggs (one tray contains 15 eggs), and 200,000 cartons of milk every month," he explained.

These two programs, namely cheap market and subsidized food market, play an important role in maintaining food security, especially during Ramadan and Eid.

In addition to making staple food more affordable, these programs also help the government control inflation and stabilize food prices in the market.

"With these programs, we hope residents won't need to go to market to buy basic neccesities, thereby reducing the pressure on market prices," he conveyed.

He assured that Jakarta's rice stock is secure. PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya currently operates a warehouse with a capacity of 25,000 tons of rice and a production capacity of 20,000 tons.

With that amount, rice supply is expected to remain stable and can meet the needs of Jakartans during Ramadan and Eid.

"Through these various strategic steps, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya remains committed to supporting food security in Jakarta. By offering more affordable prices and wider distribution, we hope Jakarta residents can undergo fasting with peace of mind without worrying about the availability of basic neccesities," he uttered.
