Pramono Akan Koordinasi dengan BGN Soal Program Sarapan Gratis

Governor Pramono will Coordinate with BGN on Free Breakfast Program

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung admitted that he is waiting for direction and decision from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) regarding the plan to implement the free breakfast for students in Jakarta.

" Today I will meet him (BGN Head),"

He conveyed that he would immediately meet the Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana today to discuss this matter.

"Today I will meet him (BGN Head). Initially, I wanted to visit the Head of Nutrition Agency, but he wanted to come to our office instead. So, we will receive him today, and after getting directions and decisions from the Head of Nutrition Agency, I will announce the details," Pramono explained at the South Plaza of Monas, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (3/12).

He further explained that the free breakfast program had been planned since the gubernatorial campaign period and had been discussed in the transition team and internal meetings of Jakarta Provincial Government.

However, the Head of BGN later stated that the free nutritious meals program is actually a program of the central government.

"I specifically want to clarify what's been reported by all of you, that there's no intention to compete or rival, none at all," he emphasized.

Through this free breakfast program, students in Jakarta are hoped to feel more comfortable while pursuing their education. Nevertheless, if the free breakfast program can't be implemented, the Jakarta Provincial Government will focus on improving school canteen infrastructure, especially in underprivileged areas.

"If it is possible to provide free breakfast, we'll do it. If not, we'll improve the school canteens infrastructure, since not all schools have it," he added.

He hopes that upgrading school canteens will have positive impacts on students' health.

"If we can improve the infrastructure, especially for schools in deprived and densely populated areas, it will certainly bring better impacts," he concluded.
