Jakarta Provincial Government receives an award from the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) for the most cat sterilization.

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung received the award at Jakarta City Hall together with the cat lovers.
"Our today's honorary guests are MURI and cat lovers. They want to hand over the award to Jakarta Government," Pramono said, Thursday (3/13).
Sterilization Targets 2,000 Cats in South JakartaJakarta Provincial Government targets to sterilize 21 thousands male this year. As the first step, 1,000 cats have been sterilized on February 21 and 22, 2025.
Pramono explained that the sterilization program is part of Jakarta effort in maintaining its status as an an
ti-rabies city, as well as preventing animal diseases spread.Jakarta as an animal-friendly city is also Pramono's wish. Because of that, he is committed to improve the animal welfare.
Jakarta Provincial Government will improve animal health facilities, including improving and expanding the animal health center in Ragunan. Pramono hopes every city and regency in Jakarta will have an animal health center by the end of his term as the governor.
According to him, controlling the cat population through sterilization is important to maintain balance and prevent conflict with residents who do not like stray cats.
"We will try to manage cats in Jakarta to be able to live well easily since not everyone can accept that," he stated.
