Dinkes DKI Siapkan Strategi Penanggulangan DBD

Dinkes' Strategy and Efforts to Stop Dengue Fever in Jakarta

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) is tightening vigilance against the potential increase in Dengue Fever (DHF) cases.

Most of the larvae are found outside the house

Based on data from the last 10 years, the peak of annual dengue fever cases is predominantly observed in April, coinciding with the transition of seasons, rising temperatures, and rainfall.

Jakarta Dinkes Head, Ani Ruspitawati stated several sub-districts were the focus of attention because of the high risk of dengue fever transmission.

"The sub-districts that have consistently ranked in the top 10 for dengue fever cases from 2022 to 2025 are Cempaka Putih, Pasar Rebo, Mampang Prapatan, Kelapa Gading, and Kembangan," she expressed, Friday (3/14).

Her agency has developed a comprehensive strategy for dengue fever management. This includes strengthening effective, safe, and sustainable vector management; improving access and quality of dengue management through enhancing the capacity of logistics providers and facilities in health services; and strengthening comprehensive dengue surveillance and responsive outbreak management.

Another strategy is the enhancement of continuous community engagement; strengthening government commitment, program management policies, and partnerships; as well as the development of studies, interventions, innovations, and research.

Aside that, the eradication of mosquito breeding sites (PSN) had been done simultaneously in 23 flood-affected urban villages. PSN monitoring was done already in 82 other areas.

She also emphasized the importance of routine monitoring, especially in flood-prone areas.

"Most of the larvae are found outside the house, such as in used tires, plant pots, items, and others. We have conducted larviciding and fogging," she continued.

To enhance kid's immunity, the Dinkes would start a dengue vaccination program in August 2025. The target was 10,000 children equivalent to the 3rd-grade level in East Jakarta.

"10,000 kids equivalent to the 3rd grade of elementary school in East Jakarta will begin in August 2025," she closed.
