Residents Appreciate Food Station's Cheap Bazaar

The cheap bazaar held at Rambutan Urban Village office, Ciracas District, East Jakarta was enthused by residents. They flocked to the event to get cheaper qualified staple foods.

PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda) Director, Karyawan Gunarso, said the cheap bazaar held by Food Station is planned to reach 240 strategic areas during Ramadan month.
"The event is held to ensure residents get cheaper qualified staple food. It is targeted to be held on 240 locations," he said, Monday (3/17).

Jakarta Monitors Commodities Price at Two Traditional MarketsGunarso explained, the commodities sold at the event are curly red chili and red cayenne pepper are sold for Rp10,000 per 200 grams while the market price is Rp11,500. Garlic is sold for Rp7,500 per 200 grams, one liter of Minyakita is sold for Rp15,500.
Next are one kilogram of sugar is sold Rp 17,500, egg is sold Rp 27,000 per tray (15 pcs), five kilogram of rice is sold Rp 72,500 while usually it is sold Rp 74,500.
Gunarso added his side also sells one kilogram of flour and red onion per 200 gram by Rp 10,000 each.
"The commodities sold are cheaper compared to the market. Hopefully it can lighten residents burden in fulfilling their needs ahead of Eid," he added.
Gunarso continued this food security program initiated by Jakarta Provincial Government plays important role in maintaining food security during Ramadan month.
Not only to ease residents getting cheaper staple foods, the program also assists government in handling the inflation rate and stabilizing market price.
"Hopefully the program makes residents not flocking to market that can trigger price increase," he stated.
One of local residents, Rini, admitted the program helps her much. She bought rice, cooking oil, egg and flour.
"The commodities sold here are cheaper compared to the market. I hope this bazaar can be held routinely," she hoped.
