Marunda Pulo Embankment Raised to Address Tidal Flooding

Jakarta SDA Agency has carried out several mitigation measures to reduce the impact of tidal flooding, such as optimizing all water pumps in the northern area to accelerate the receding tidal water and maximizing the function of drainage canals to channel water runoff.

"Moreover, Jakarta SDA Agency will gradually build mitigation embankments at several affected points, along with the ongoing construction of Coastal Embankment, including expediting the management of tidal water runoff in several locations still at risk of being affected," she explained, Tuesday (3/18).

The following are the ongoing mitigation embankment construction projects:

• Muara Angke: 1.1 kilometers long, which will be build after Eid.

• Muara Baru: Of the total dua kilometers, the initial phase of 500 meters will be started after Eidn.

• Sunda Kelapa: the 1-kilometer embankment is currently under construction by Pelindo.

• RE Martadinata (in front of JIS): Still in coordination with the Ministry of PUPR.

• Marunda Pulo: Currently in the bidding process, construction has not begun yet.

Ika further mentioned that the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) project is also a priority. She detailed that Jakarta is responsible for constructing 12.5 kilometers of the unfinished section by 2030, with ongoing efforts to speed up the construction process.
