Let's Visit the Marine Ships Must Be! Exhibition at Bahari Museum

The Jakarta Government, along with the Culture Ministry and Russian Embassy, held an art exhibition titled Ships Must Be! at Sunda Kelapa Hall, Bahari Museum Jakarta, Jalan Pasar Ikan, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

The relationship between Indonesia and Russia has been going well

Culture Minister, Fadli Zonz said this exhibition is held to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Indonesia, which are both maritime countries in the world.

"The relationship between Indonesia and Russia has been going well. Besides politics and economics, we also make cooperation in the cultural field, such as today's exhibition," he expressed, Monday (3/24).

By so, it was expected to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Thus, the expression of culture or the works of Indonesia and Russia would become more widespread.

"We also plan to hold an art exhibition concert next April in Jakarta soon. This is part of enriching the relationship between Indonesia and Russia," he explained.

The Russian Ambassador to Indonesia, Sergei Gennadievich Tolchenov, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Indonesian government, especially the Culture Ministry and Jakarta Government, for providing space and opportunities to showcase his cultural works.

"I want to emphasize that the sea and oceans are not something that divide our countries, but rather unite us. Hopefully, with this event, our partnership will grow stronger," he expressed.

He explained this exhibition features photographs by the Russian artist, Andrey Trony, which are part of the collection of the Museum of the World Ocean (Kaliningrad).

This aimed to serve as a historical reconstruction that tells the beginning of the glorious maritime events. It then narrated the history of the formation and development of the Russian fleet and the maritime industry under the leadership of Peter the Great.

"I hope the visitore can enjoy our cultural photography works, as well as other works available at Bahari Museum," he hoped.

Jakarta Culture Agency Acting Head, Mochamad Miftahulloh Tamary added the Marine Ships Must Be! exhibition will take place from March 24 to April 16, 2025.

According to him, maritime affairs have played a very vital role in shaping the identity and history of a nation. Hope this exhibition would become a platform that inspires the community to delve deeper into the world's maritime history, especially in Russia.

"We want the visitors to also understand the richness of Indonesia's maritime cultural heritage displayed at Bahari Museum in Jakarta," he closed.
