The East Jakarta Transportation Agency officers cracked down on illegal travel during the Operation Lintas Jaya on Jalan Pangkalan Jati, Cipinang Melayu Urban Village, Makasar, East Jakarta.

East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Head, Renyly Dwi Astuti said such raids had actually been conducted frequently. Unfortunately, there were still those who dare to violate the rules.

"We also educate passengers to be more cautious when using public transportation. Besides AKAP buses, they can also use official travel services," he expressed, Thursday (3/27).

East Jakarta Transportarion Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Riki Erwinda said five illegal travel operators were netted, as they did not comply with licensing regulations while taking advantage of the high demand for transportation during the homecoming flow.

"This operation has been ongoing since Wednesday night to Thursday morning, involving 74 personnel from East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency and army/police," he expressed.

According to him, the violator was subjected to a fine to serve as a deterrent.

He explained the operation would be intensified for safety and comfort.

Therefore, he urged the public not to be tempted by cheap Eid transportation prices, which may overlook safety factors.

"We want them to use an official travel agency so they can avoid unwanted issues," he asserted.
