Main and Backup Terminals Prepared to Anticipate Travelers Surge

The Jakarta Government has prepared seven terminals to support the smooth flow of homecoming during the Eid transportation period, which runs from March 21 to April 11, 2025.

Hopefully, the residents can travel home safely and comfortably

Those seven terminals are four main terminals and three backup terminals. The main terminals include Kampung Rambutan Terminal, Tanjung Priok Terminal, Kalideres Terminal, and Pulogebang Integrated Terminal. While the backup terminals include Lebak Bulus Terminal, Muara Angke Terminal, and Grogol Terminal.

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo explained the backup terminal was prepared to anticipate passenger surges and alleviate congestion at the main terminal.

"For instance, if the Kalideres Terminal is full, buses will be redirected to backup terminals such as Grogol Terminal, to prevent long lines that could cause congestion on Jalan Daan Mogot," he expressed, Monday (3/24).

He predicted that the number of bus passengers during this year's Eid will increased by about eight percent compared to last year.

He assessed this was partly because some people postponed returning to their hometown during the Christmas 2024 and New Year holidays.

"The reason is that the time between the Christmas 2024 holiday, New Year, and Idulfitri 2025 is relatively close," he explained.

He added 2,846 buses were prepared involving 428 long-distance bus operators at four main terminals and three backup terminals.

He furthered that the Transportation Agency, together with the Health Agency and the Jakarta National Narcotics Agency, also deployed health personnel at the main terminal, as well as in support roles to ensure travel safety. They would conduct health check-up and drug and alcohol tests for bus crews.

Ramp checks were also conducted, which include physical inspections of vehicles and document checks. The aim was to ensure that vehicles transporting travelers meet traffic safety and road transport requirements.

"Hopefully, the residents can travel home safely and comfortably," he hoped.
