Dishub Ensures Free Homecoming Program Runs Without Issues

The Jakarta Provincial Government has organized the Free Homecoming Program once more, primarily aimed at residents of Jakarta, to provide a safe, secure, and hassle-free trip for homebound travelers.

"T rucks and buses used in the Free Homecoming Program 2025 have undergone ramp checks,"

This year, the Free Homecoming Program is organized with destinations to 20 cities/regencies in six provinces across Indonesia. A total of 10 trucks carrying 358 motorcycles of Free Homecoming participants were dispatched from Pulogadung Terminal in East Jakarta on March 26, 2025.

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo, stated that this number increased by 19.3% from the initial target of 300 motorcycles. These trucks were headed to four cities: Yogyakarta, Semarang, Solo, and Wonogiri, instead of the original six cities.

"The dispatch of trucks carrying motorcycles to Kebumen and Sidoarjo was canceled because the number of registrants did not meet the minimum capacity requirements for the trucks," Syafrin explained on Sunday (3/30).

Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor sent off 15,049 Free Homecoming participants from National Monument (Monas) to their respective destination cities the following day. The participants were dispatched between 08:30 and 10:30 AM using 325 buses.

He mentioned that the number of Free Homecoming participants increased by 7.68% from the initial target of 13,975 participants.

He assured that all vehicles used in the Free Homecoming Program 2025 had undergone ramp checks to ensure safety and roadworthiness.

"All vehicles, both trucks and buses used in the Free Homecoming Program 2025 have undergone ramp checks before departure to ensure safety and roadworthiness," he said.

He revealed that the trucsk carrying motorcycles will be sent back to Pulogadung Terminal on April 5, 2025. Meanwhile, the buses transporting the participants will be dispatched to Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal on April 6, 2025.

"To ensure the success of homecoming flow and return flow, Dishub will conduct regular monitoring in eight cities/regencies, namely Yogyakarta, Wonogiri, Solo, Sragen, Semarang, Kebumen, Purwokerto, and Palembang," he added.

Here are the details of the buses transporting Free Homecoming participants: 292 units from Jakarta Government's Free Homecoming Program; CSR buses, which are from: PT Bank DKI (5 units), PT Transjakarta (5 units), PT MRT Jakarta (1 unit), PT LRT Jakarta (1 unit), and PT Varcos Citra Internasional (Paragon Group) (15 units).

In its implementation, the Jakarta Provincial Government added two reserve buses to Yogyakarta (via Tegal, Pekalongan, and Semarang) to accommodate the following situations: participants whose e-tickets do not match their identification, participants who arrive late (missed the bus) with various reasons, such as residing outside of Jakarta, and participants who are victims of ticket fraud.
