Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung and his partner, Rano Karno, sent off 1,700 students from Modern Darussalam Gontor Islamic Boarding School at Monas Field, Tuesday (4/8).
This is an opportunity that not everyone can get
In his speech, Pramono specifically prayed for the Gontor students to succeed in their pursuit of knowledge.
According to him, Gontor has modern, nationalist, open-minded, and broadly knowledgeable students, some of whom are now leaders at the national level.
Pramono Allows Newcomers to Join Skills Training in Jakarta"Together with the Deputy Governor, City Secretary, and other officials, we send off the departure of 1,700 Gontor students," he explained.
He hoped that the Gontor Islamic Boarding School could continuously produce leaders for the nation of Indonesia. He also hoped that the students from Jakarta could return to the capital after graduating to dedicate their knowledge in various fields, both religious and general.
"I hope that once they graduate, they can return to Jakarta to develop their knowledge in the field of religion or in general education. Because I know Gontor always excels in that regard," he explained.
He also interacted directly with one of the students from Cakung, East Jakarta, named Ajuad. Ajuad expressed to Pramono his interest in studying at Gontor to gain knowledge.
After the dialogue, Pramono awarded a full scholarship to Ajuad from the Jakarta Government for one year. He hoped this scholarship would motivate Ajuad to continue studying diligently and achieve his dream of becoming a leader of the nation in the future.
"Earlier, because he (Ajuad) was the only one brave enough to step forward, the Jakarta Government will grant him a scholarship for one year. For one year, we will provide him with a full scholarship. If your achievements are good, it will be granted again," he utterred.
He then advised all the students to study diligently and make the most of the learning opportunities at Gontor. Hopefully, in the future, proud leaders of the nation would emerge.
"This is an opportunity that not everyone can get, an opportunity like all of you, being a student at Gontor is not easy. And Gontor always produces its leaders at all times," he closed.
