Jakarta to be Designed as a Film City

Jakarta Vice Governor, Rano Karno said Jakarta Provincial Government to facilitate the making of Jakarta Film Festival. This international movie festival is planned as one of the requirements to realize Jakarta as a global city.

"We provide facility since one of the global city requirements is to be cultured," Rano said, Saturday (4/12).
Rano explained his side will invite national movie industry players, including producer Garin Nugroho, to formulate the Jakarta Film Festival formation.

According to him, Jakarta Film Week initiated by Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency is an international-scale movie festival. In fact, he continued, Jakart Film Week is not targeting blockbuster movies or commercial movie which is financial popularized.
"I hope there is also blockbuster movie aside from competition or critic movies," he continued.
Rano also invited residents to support local movie by watching movie at theater. He ensured Jakarta Provincial Government will remain support in movie industry development.
"Jakarta will be planned as movie city," he stated.
