Dengue Prevention in West Jakarta Keeps Being Optimized

The West Jakarta Health Sub-agency keeps optimizing efforts to prevent cases of Dengue Fever caused by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

Disease Prevention and Control Section Head, Arum Ambarsari said preventive efforts were made by holding a Mosquito Nest Eradication action (PSN).
"We are intensifying the socialization of Wolbachia mosquitoes to prevent dengue fever. We'll carry this out at the end of this month or early May 2025 in one of the urban villages in West Jakarta, targeting more than 1,500 foster parents of Wolbachia mosquitoes," she expressed, Wesdnesday (4/16).
Dengue Fever Case in South Jakarta Declines Compared to Last YearAside that, residents of West Jakarta were also continuously invited to enhance their role in promoting health related to dengue, such as implementing 3M Plus, Independent Jumantik (wiggler hunter), etc.
"Their role is important in reducing dengue cases by enhancing equitable health promotion," she explained.
Based on the latest data gathered from January to April 14, 2025, there are 704 cases of dengue fever in West Jakarta. The details are as follows: in January, there were 186 cases of dengue fever, 211 cases in February, and 254 cases in March. Then, from April 1 to 14, there were 53 cases of dengue fever.
"There has been an increase in cases from January to March. This may be triggered by humidity and air temperature factors that allow Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes to breed easily. So, residents need to remain vigilant and consistently maintain cleanliness in their homes and surroundings," she uttered.
