Channel's Retaining Wall on Jalan Haluan Being Repaired

The Koja Sub-district Water Resources Executing Unit (SDA) North Jakarta is repairing the channel retaining wall on Jalan Haluan, RT 05/01, Rawa Badak Utara Urban Village.

Koja Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head, Slamet Riyanto said repairs are made to follow up on the residents' request from RW 01, as the structure of the channel has deteriorated to the point of collapse.

"It has been ongoing since a week ago, precisely on April 14. The progress has touched 40 percent so far," he expressed, Monday (4/21).

He explained repairs on the retaining wall with 120 centimeters high and a channel with 40 centimeters wide were conducted along 27 meters.

He added it was initiated with the dismantling and excavation of the channel. Then, river stones were installed to form a retaining wall 20 centimeters thick. In the final stage, it was continued with plastering and finishing.

"This work involves nine personnel with their supporting tools," he explained.

He hoped that the channel could operate as usual after the repair was done. Locals were expected to participate in taking care of this channel.

"This is targeted for completion in early May," he explained.

The repair itself received appreciation from one of the residents from RW 01, Kurniawan (48).

"If it is ignored, it will trigger landslides and flooding in the residential area. Very thank you and hope it can be finished on time," he stated.
