South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency dredges Cideng River of Jalan Patra Kuningan up to Jalan Raya Casablanca segment, Menteng Dalam Urban Village , Tebet District.

South Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Santo said the first stage of Cideng River dredging is aimed to anticipate inundation caused by 2 meters-height of mud on the river.

"The dredging also supports the 100-days work program of Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor in handling flood in Jakarta," he said, Monday (4/21).

Santo explained 100 personnel and four excavators are deployed to dredge the river along 325 meters.

"The dredging has been started from April 13 and is targeted to complete on June 30," he explained.

He added that flood prevention and handling efforts are run by the sub-agency by dredging Krukut River of Jalan NIS segment, Grogol River of Mayapada segment, Ciliwung River, and reservoirs.

Meanwhile, one of residents living in Menteng Dalam Urban Village, Agus Salim (48), appreciated the mud dredging run by the sub-agency's Blue Taskforce personnel.

"It's good since we want the river to be dredged to overcome inundation and flood," he admitted.
