The Regional Disaster Handling Agency (BPBD) appeals heads of urban village, district and residents to remain anticipate the potential of landslide during above-normal rain intensity in April 2025.
Landslides can occur if rainfall is above normal
According to Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) information, there is potential for landslides on several areas in Jakarta
based on the results of the overlay between the landslide vulnerability zone map and the monthly rainfall forecast map obtained from BMKG.
PPSU and SDA Quickly Handle Landslide in CibuburJakarta BPBD Head, Isnawa Adji said some of those areas are in the Medium Zone where landslides are likely to occur.
"Landslides can occur if rainfall is above normal in the Middle Zone, especially in areas bordering with river valleys, escarpments, road cliffs or if the slope is disturbed," he said, Wednesday (4/9).
He appeals heads of urban village and district, together with residents to actively check the area condition especially those close to rivers or where there are cliffs or escarpments.
"TRC BPBD personnel in every urban village should monitor together with heads of urban village and district if there are areas need handling from BPBD or other related agencies," he added.
Isnawa explained other anticipations if the land is sloping or has the potential to move or shift are making independent gabions and retaining walls.
Jakarta BPBD invites residents to plant trees at prone and minimal vegetation areas to prevent landslide potential danger and minimize the impact if heavy rain falls.
"Disaster management must be comprehensive. Anticipatory efforts can be run independently or collectively by the community," he continued.
Based on the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) data, several areas in Jakarta are in the Medium Zone of potential landslides, namely:
1. South Jakarta; Cilandak, Jagakarsa, Kebayoran Baru, Kebayoran Pama, Mampang Prapatan, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu and Pesanggrahan.
2. East Jakarta; Kramat Jati and Pasar Rebo.
