City Goverment Encourages Residents to Use Public Transportation

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung said Jakarta Provincial Government is arranging policy to provide free public transportation for national holidays including Jakarta's anniversary.

Pramono hopes this effort will create better public transportation services and encourage residents switching to it.
"Hopefully this can be run smoothly, including for the 15 groups of people listed before," Pramono said, Monday (4/21).

The 15 groups are listed below;
1. Jakarta Civil Apparatuses and retired civil servant
2. Jakarta Provincial Government contract workers
3. Students beneficiary of KJP Plus
4. Employees with UMP salary through Bank DKI
5. Rusunawa (rented-flat) occupants
6. TP PKK
7. Residents with Seribu Islands ID card
8. Raskin recipients domiciled in Jabodetabek
9. Army and Police
10. Indonesian Veterans
11. People with disability
12. Elderly above 60 years old
13. Praying house caretakers
14. PAUD teachers
15. Mosquito larva monitoring agent (Jumantik).
Pramono added traffic congestion is one of common problems in Jakarta. So Jakarta Provincial Government tries to change its resident's habit from using private vehicles to public transportation.
"Traffic congestion can be handled if residents switch from using private vehicles to public transportat ion," Pramono added.
According to him, Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno routinely uses public transportation to City Hall every Monday.
"Since I already live in official house that is near with City Hall, I do not need public transportation," he continued.
Moreover, Pramono stated that Jakarta Provincial Government has cooperated with Banten Provincial Government in opening new Transjakarta route serving Alam Sutera-Blok M. It will operate on April 24, 2025.
"We'll connect Transjabodetabek with our new routes in stages," he stated.
