Satpol PP Invites 390 People with Disabilities to Visit Bahari Museum

Some 390 students with disabilities from six schools across Jakarta participated in the "Wisata Sahabat Praja Satpol PP Goes To School" event with the theme "Navigating the Ocean to Reach Dreams" at the Bahari Museum, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

They looked enthusiastic and happy

Jakarta Satpol PP's Civil Servant Investigation Division (PPNS) Head, Tamo Sijabat said the museum visit was participated by six schools from National Level SLB-A Pembina, SLBN 01 Jakarta, PKBM Bintang Bangsa, SLBN 04 Jakarta, SLBN 05 Jakarta, and SKBN 29 Jakarta.

"The visit to the Bahari Museum has been held for two consecutive years. Each school participated with 65 people, making a total of 390 elementary, middle, and high school students," he said, Wednesday (4/23).

According to him, 150 personnel were deployed to ensure that people with disabilities well served, including in terms of the method of delivering specific material.

"We picked them up (students) from school using a school bus with the assistance of the Satpol PP. They looked enthusiastic and happy because many of them had never visited the Maritime Museum before," he explained.

He explained this educational tourism is a continuation of the Satpol PP Goes to School program that was previously initiated by visiting schools.

"This will continue to be held regularly, next year we might visit the Old Town, Monas, Tekstil Museum, and other tourist destinations," he explained.

Such acitivities received support from the Jakarta Kebaharian Museum Technical Unit Head, Mis'ari

"We're very happy to collaborate again with Satpol PP. The students can get to know the history of the Bahari Museum and the duties of the Satpol PP better," she explained.

She added more than 30 museum staff were involved as tour guides. The visit from students with special needs prompted the management to take the initiative to further improve and enhance the museum's facilities.

"Hope this cooperation can continue sustainably and the museum becomes more vibrant, and students also learn about maritime history," she hoped.

Aside that, one of the students from PKBM Bintang Bangsa, Wijoyo Hadi Kusama (11), admitted this was the first activity he had participated in.

"Today is very exciting, I went with my friends to tour the museum. I am very happy. Thank you for taking us on a trip to Bahari Museum," he admitted.
