Hardiknas, Pramono: Education is Every Citizen's Basic Right

Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, led the ceremony of National Education Day 2025 at the Jakarta City Hall courtyard, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Friday (2/5).

Let us join hands, support each other, and work together to realize 'Quality Education for All'

Reading the Minister's speech of Basic and Secondary Education, he emphasized the importance of education as a human right and a civil right of every citizen.

According to him, National Education Day is not just an annual ceremony but a moment to reinforce the commitment to educating the nation's life. Based on the 1945 Constitution and the National Education System Law Number 20/2003, it guarantees the right of every citizen to receive the best, quality education without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, race (SARA), or economic status.

Pramono Commits to Resolving Diploma Retention Issues

"This is a moment for us to strengthen and enhance our dedication, commitment, and spirit to meet the mandate of the constitution, which is to educate the nation's life," he explained.

He went on to say that education is the process of building personality, especially noble character, and aims for society to master knowledge and skills. He also emphasized the government's commitment to building strong human resources, either as actors or agents of change.

Through education, the government is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty. This is done by advancing education through the revitalization of educational facilities and infrastructure, digital learning, and improving the quality, qualifications, and performance of teachers.

"By doing so, teachers can become agents of learning and agents of civilization," he continued.

He hoped that besides being learning facilitators, they are also mentors and counselors for the students. Thereby, he emphasizesd the need for cooperation with all parties to realize this.

"Of course, the government needs universal support and participation," he exclaimed.

Since October 2024, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has taken concrete steps to build quality educational services. Managerially, they have improved governance, coaching, and teacher performance.

Meanwhile, in terms of curriculum, they would implement Deep Learning, the application of Academic Ability Tests (TKA), as well as Coding education and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Then, pedagogically, to shape character, they made the policy of the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children. This includes waking up early, worshiping, exercising, eating healthy and nutritious food, having a love for learning, being part of the community, and going to bed early, along with the Cheerful Morning program which includes the Great Indonesian Children's Exercise (SAIH), singing the Indonesia Raya anthem, and a collective prayer. As for the character education at the kindergarten level launched the Kicau (Chirping) Album which contains children's songs.

"So, let us join hands, support each other, and work together to realize 'Quality Education for All'," he closed.
