1,065 Qurban Animals in North Jakarta Ready for Sacrifice

Some 1,065 qurban animals from 21 shelters have undergone examination stage in six sub-districts held by the North Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP).

This is done to ensure the eligibility and health of the qurban animals sold by traders ahead of the celebration of Idul Adha 1446 Hijri.

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto said supervision and health inspections of qurban animals have become a routine agenda every year. The inspected qurban animals consisted of cattle, goats, buffalo, and sheep.

E. Jakarta KPKP Begins Examining Qurban Animals

"Our action has been ongoing since May 8 to 9, 2025," he expressed, Tuesday (5/20).

Of 1,065 animals examined, 542 were from 13 locations in Cilincing Sub-district; 183 were from four locations in Koja Sub-district; 200 were from one location in Tanjung Sub-district; 109 were from two locations in Kelapa Gading Sub-district; 31 were from one location in Pademangan Sub-district.

"This is still ongoing, and the number of animals being examined will definitely increase. Last year, there were over 100 locations for shelter in North Jakarta," he explained.

He explained the examination conducted was administrative checks of the origin area of qurban animals, ensuring health conditions and requirements for sacrifice, including preventing the spread of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD).

"So far, the animals we have examined are healthy and well. They received a Veterinary Health Certificate (SKKH)," he added.

Cilincing Sub-district KPKP Executing Unit Head, Suharti added the supervision had been carried out in 13 places selling qurban animals with a total of 395 cows, 80 goats, and 67 sheep.

"Most of them come from outside Jakarta, so they must be examined to ensure their health condition and suitability for the sacrifice," he stated.
