In total, approximately 800 households with 3,200 individuals living in 485 buildings were affected by the fire last Friday (6/6).
North Jakarta Mayor Ensures Basic Needs of Kapuk Muara Fire Victims Are Met"I've been coordinating since yesterday with the mayor for optimal handling. Today, all agencies at the city hall are all out," he said, when he visited the scene, Sunday (6/8).
Of the total affected residents, he explained, more than 1,900 individuals were currently still surviving in evacuation locations.
His party had even sent assistance to the location, including food, water, sanitation, emergency shelter, and health aspects, including a post for processing population administration documents.
"Hopefully, this emergency response can lighten their burden," he hoped.
Thus far, his party prioritized emergency handling first and would discuss the status of land and residents' housing afterwards.
"We focus on the victims first. After that, we will consider relocation through a detailed meeting about addressing the impact of this fire," he concluded.
He admitted that the recurring fire incidents in densely populated settlements gave lessons to his team.
Recently, he signed the Governor's Regulation regarding the movement for each neighborhood unit to have at least one portable fire extinguisher (APAR).
"So, if such an event occurs, they can quickly take early action to minimize the wider impact of the disaster," he stated.
