Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, invited 10 member provinces of the Mitra Praja Utama (MPU) to synergize in developing tourism.

This invitation was expressed when he was a speaker at the Panel Discussion of the Governor's Work Meeting Mitra Praja Utama 2025 in Flores Room, Borobudur Jakarta Hotel, Monday night (6/16).

In the discussion themed "Growing Together through Cooperation," Rano is one of the speakers alongside Banten Governor, Andra Soni and East Java Deputy Governor, Emil Dardak.

"This meeting is not just an opportunity for networking but also a strategic space to strengthen collaboration, share ideas, and formulate innovations in support of regional development," he explained.

According to him, the 10 provinces that are part of Mitra Praja Utama, namely Jakarta, Banten, East Java, Central Java, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Lampung, Bali, Yogyakarta, and West Java, each have their own advantages, identities, and challenges.

Therefore, he hoped that this forum could be an important momentum to formulate a joint development agenda in strengthening strategic sectors in the region, such as food security, education, health, climate change, and tourism.

Following the enactment of Law No. 2/2024, Jakarta officially becomes a special area that is transforming into a global city. This change is responded to by strengthening the foundations of development in the economic, social, environmental, and cultural aspects.

He asserted the preservation of local culture is an important pillar in supporting the transformation of Jakarta. This effort is pursued through the strengthening of the arts, the empowerment of artists, and collaboration with the business world to create urban spaces as stages for cultural expression.

"As we can see, the Discover Betawi Art and Culture event held at the Borobudur Hotel is a tangible reflection of that commitment," he asserted.

He also explained that Jakarta continues to improve in a bid to strengthen the tourism ecosystem, including the revitalization of heritage areas as the historical face of the city, the integration of public transportation for the convenience of tourists, the provision of inclusive and friendly open spaces for all groups, and the organization of various creative events on a national and international scale.

"On June 22, Jakarta will celebrate its 498th anniversary. This moment is not just a commemoration of age, but an important milestone to strengthen Jakarta's position as an inclusive, creative, competitive, and comfortable city for all," he concluded.

According to him, the Jakarta Government keeps strengthening its image to showcase the rich and diverse cultural heritage.

It was believed that the living cultural values would provide memorable experiences for every tourist who comes.

"Let us continue to strengthen synergy and collaboration across regions as a strategic step to elevate national tourism to the world stage," he concluded.
