Rano: BTN JAKIM 2025 Boosts Jakarta's Promotion and Economy

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, attended the BTN Jakarta International Marathon (Jakim) 2025 at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium area, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Sunday (6/29).

Rano expressed his gratitude and pride over the participants' incredible enthusiasm for this event. He mentioned that nearly 31,000 participants took part in this year's marathon, a number that had never been achieved before.

"This is incredible. I just said that next year the target is 50,000 participants. If that is achieved, we can surpass other marathon events in Indonesia that have been held for decades," he expressed.

He stated that holding international-scale sporting events like this is important as a platform to promote the city of Jakarta. The presence of participants from several countries, including a running community from Malaysia, is proof that Jakarta is increasingly being noticed on the global stage.

"So far, there have been many marathons, but mostly local ones. Now, they are starting to gain attention from friendly countries. This promotes the city and makes it a top choice for the community," he added.

This event boosts the economy, especially MSMEs that operate early in the morning. He also noted that the enthusiasm of residents who are active in the morning remains high despite the Car Free Day being temporarily closed due to this event.

"This indicates that Jakarta is becoming more vibrant. Security, cleanliness, and community togetherness are maintained," he explained.

He added, the Jakarta Government is preparing another international-scale event. Among them, the World Marching Band Championship in 2026 and the Folklore Festival in collaboration with UNESCO, scheduled to be held in 2027, with participation from 82 countries.

As information, the BTN Jakarta International Marathon 2025 is an international-scale running event held through a collaboration between Bank BTN and Jakarta Government.

This event offers various running categories such as Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K. This year, the event was attended by nearly 31,000 runners from both domestic and international participants, in conjunction with celebrating Jakarta's 498th anniversary.
