4.647 Kendaraan Listrik Jalani Uji Kir di UP PKB Pulo Gadung

4,647 Electric Vehicles Undergo Kir Tests at Pulo Gadung UP PKB

From January to July 2025, as many as 4,647 electric-powered vehicles have undergone the Kir test at the Pulo Gadung Motor Vehicle Testing Management Unit (UP PKB), East Jakarta.

Jakarta Government will tighten its supervision

Pulo Gadung PKB Technical Unit Head, Edi Sufaat said, the Kir test is not only for new electric vehicles manufactured by the factory but also for vehicles undergoing periodic inspections every six months, including public passenger and freight transport.

"By switching to electric-powered vehicles used for public transportation and goods, Jakarta Government will tighten its supervision. They are required to undergo vehicle inspection testing every six months, including vehicles that are brand new from the dealer or showroom," he expressed, Monday (7/21).

As the only electric vehicle testing facility in Jakarta, they are very careful during the testing process.

"Since early January until July, 4,647 vehicles have undergone the Kir test," he explained.

Of 4,647 vehicles, 4,088 were electric taxis, 389 were big-sized buses, 23 were pickup trucks, 15 were box trucks, and 159 were vans.

Pulo Gadung PKB Technical Unit Section Head, Andi Jaya Prana added, testing electric vehicles is slightly different from testing diesel or gasoline-powered vehicles. For electric vehicles, inspection does not require checking the exhaust pipe as they do not produce exhaust emissions.

"And the rest is the same, checked thoroughly. Starting from the underside, wheels, lights, brakes, horn, wipers, tires, vehicle documents, and other items. For electric vehicles, the electrical system is also checked," he explained.

Thus far, there have been no issues in conducting motor vehicle testing using electric fuel. This is because all employees, both PJLP and ASN, have completed education and training.
