Fire in Densely Populated Duri Utara Brought Under Control

A total of 29 fire trucks and 145 firefighters from West Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency successfully extinguished a fire that broke out in a densely populated area of RW 02, Duri Utara Urban Village, Tambora Sub-district, on Monday (7/21).

"The fire is suspected to have originated from one of residents' houses,"

West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency's Operation Section Head, Syarifudi, mentioned that fire was reported at 08:35 AM.

"The fire is suspected to have originated from one of residents' houses and quickly spread to other buildings, including a home-based garment workshop," he explained.

Assistance Continues to Be Provided to Bukit Duri Fire Victims

According to him, the fire destroyed at least 70 houses spread over more than 9,000 square meters of land. After struggling with the flames, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire by 12:21 PM, followed by cooling process.

"There were no fatalities, but two residents sustained minor burns while trying to help extinguish the fire. Both have received treatment at a nearby health center," he added.

Duri Utara Urban Village Head, Ari Kurnia, added that the residents affected by fire have evacuated at temporary shelter and RW 02 community hall established by West Jakarta BPBD.

"A total of 75 families or 300 people were affected. We have coordinated the aid distribution for those affected by fire," he explained.
