It was stated by Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, when giving a speech at the 41st National Children's Day Commemoration at Ragunan Zoo, South Jakarta, Saturday (7/26).

Rano said that a third of Jakarta's population is children. Therefore, Jakarta's future will be largely determined by how children are treated today.

"The momentum of National Children's Day, which is held every year, is an important reminder that the future of the nation, including Jakarta, is very much determined by how we treat children today," Rano said.

Since 2022, Rano explained, Jakarta has been recognized and awarded as a Child-Friendly Province. This is the result of the commitment and collaborative work of all parties.

"Several programs such as the Jakarta Pintar Card, construction of 324 RPTRAs, 13 Years of Compulsory Education, 24-hour daycare and shelter services, and diploma amnesty are part of Jakarta's commitment to children," Rano added.

Various programs and activities are continuously being implemented to ensure that Jakarta's children grow up in an environment that supports the fulfillment of their rights to life, growth, development, protection, and participation.

"One of the efforts is through Suara Anak Jakarta as a form of children's participation and our concern for their aspirations," Rano continued.

Rano also advised Jakarta's children to be a generation that is smart in using the internet, not to get involved in brawls, and to be free from stunting.

Rano invited Jakarta residents to become part of the child protection ecosystem by creating a friendly environment, starting from households, neighborhood associations (RT/RW), and up to schools.

Meanwhile, Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head, Iin Mutmainah explained today's commemoration was held to increase the commitment and efforts of regional apparatus in fulfilling and protecting children.

"We also want to raise public awareness and understanding of the importance of protecting children's rights and pay attention to children as the nation's future generation through various activities and massive campaigns," she explained.
