3,620 Animals in North Jakarta Receive Rabies Vaccination

The North Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP), vaccinated 3,620 pets and wild animals against rabies from January to July 2025.

This year, our target is 5,552 animals

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto said, this vaccination service is free with a door-to-door method, targeting cats, dogs, monkeys, and civets.

"This year, our target is 5,552 animals," he expressed, Wednesday (8/6).

1,166 Pets in West Jakarta Vaccinated against Rabies

He detailed, thousands of animals vaccinated against rabies were 894 dogs, 2,694 cats, 18 monkeys, and 14 civet cats. All vaccinated animals comply with the regulations or requirements.

"This coverage will continue to expand, and we remain committed to rabies prevention and maintaining Jakarta's rabies-free status," he explained.

North Jakarta Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Section Head, Liza Engkalika added, this rabies vaccination is a measure to protect the health of the community and pets.

To enjoy this service, residents must check the schedule uploaded on the North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency's Instagram account.

"We remind all residents who own pets to immediately vaccinate their animals for the sake of everyone's health," she explained.

Her team also strives to reduce the population of rabies-transmitting animals, especially cats.

From January to July 2025, sterilization had been performed on 725 cats.

"Hope this can keep North Jakarta free from rabies and the cat population under control," she closed.
