1,492 Cats in East Jakarta Sterilized Against Rabies

As many as 1,492 stray and pet cats in East Jakarta have been sterilized during the period from January to July 29, 2025.

This sterilization is important for controlling the cat population

East Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-agency (KPKP) Head, Taufik Yulianto detailed, the sterilized cats consisted of 1,170 males and 222 females.

"This sterilization is important for controlling the cat population, especially since cats can transmit rabies," he expressed, Wednesday (8/13).

3,620 Animals in North Jakarta Receive Rabies Vaccination

Livestock and Animal Health Section Head, Theresia Ellita, added, a mobile service and drive-thru sterilization and vaccination will be held on September 20, 2025.

"On September 29, there will also be a major event as the peak celebration for Rabies Day," she added.

She furthered the sterilization involved stakeholders, especially animal lovers.

"We are collaborating with the Indonesian Environment Care Foundation, Lets Adopt, and others," she said.
