The Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency and management of Merah Putih Urban Village Cooperatives (KKMP) discussed strengthening the role of cooperatives in supporting Jakarta as a global city.
"KKMP has the potential to develop into a food hub and aggregator,"
Held on September 2-3, 2025, the event was organized as a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and technical guidance (bimtek), featuring speakers from Ministry of Cooperatives and Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP).
Pasar Tumbuh Turnover Hits Rp 22.8 MillionSecretary of Jakarta PPKUKM, Nur Hidayat, explained that the event, themed "Strengthening the Role of Merah Putih Urban Village Cooperatives in Digital Transformation, Financing, and Government Goods and Services Procurement to Support Jakarta as a Global City", highlights cooperatives as platforms for communities to participate in economic development from urban village level to the global stage.
According to him, KKMP serves as a strategic instrument to strengthen economic resilience at the urban village level.
Through Cooperatives, he added, residents not only collaborate to build collective economic strength but also gain access to more inclusive financing, utilize digital technology to increase business efficiency, and actively participate in government goods and services procurement supply chains.
"KKMP has the potential to develop into a food hub and aggregator capable of consolidating various local products for wider distribution. It also integrates community economic potential, creates new job opportunities, and strengthens the foundation of people-centered economy in Jakarta," he said on Monday (9/2).
He urged mayors, regents, and PPKUKM Sub-agencies to speed up completing all required administrative documents such as Business Identification Numbers (NIB), Tax Identification Numbers (NPWP), and bank accounts to ensure cooperatives are legally recognized, professionally operated, and can access various government and financial institution support programs.
"KKMP management must promptly complete accurate data and regularly update it through the Simkopdes application, an important tool to monitor cooperative progress transparently, accurately, and accountably," he mentioned.
Hidayat also asked KKMP management to prepare financing or capital according to actual needs.
"Well-planned capital will serve as the main foundation for running businesses to develop healthily, inclusively, and sustainably," he shared.
Meanwhile, Talent Development and Competitiveness Deputy Secretary at Ministry of Cooperatives, Wisnu Gunadi, hopes that KKMP can become a driving force Indonesia's advancement. He also expects Jakarta to serve as a benchmark city for urban village cooperatives in other regions.
"I hope KKMP in Jakarta completes permits such as Business Identification Number (NIB) and creates accounts for government goods and services procurement," he emphasized.
