West Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Novy C Palit said, the sterilization was conducted to control the population of animals, especially cats and dogs, which are increasing rapidly in West Jakarta.

"This sterilization is also beneficial in preventing the spread of diseases such as rabies," she expressed, Wednesday (9/3).

She explained, the sterilization conducted at several locations such as the Kembangan Agricultural Counseling Center, traditional markets, and veterinary clinics that have already partnered has successfully reached 1,019 cats and 41 dogs.

She added that 2,000 cats are targeted to be sterilized this year. This is because this program is one of the effective steps in creating a healthier and safer environment, both for humans and animals.

"We want residents to be more caring towards their pets. This sterilization is not just about controlling the population, but also about improving the health quality of cats and dogs to ensure they are better cared for," she explained.

To participate in this program, pet owners must meet several requirements, including possessing an ID card from West Jakarta and having a local cat or dog.

The regulation for the number of animals that can be registered is two male cats or one female cat, or a combination of one female and one male. Additionally, for dogs, they perform sterilization specifically at each occasion.

"Residents are urged to use this service because it is free, easy, and very beneficial for maintaining the balance of the animal population," she stated
