Deputy Governor Rano Shares the Main Focus of Global City

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, explained that the Jakarta Government has set a roadmap for Jakarta to become one of the top 20 global cities.

Global City Programs do not stand alone

He conveyed this statement during the Plenary Meeting where Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the general views of the factions of the Jakarta Legislative Council regarding the 2026 Jakarta Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget and the change in the legal entity of the Regional Public Water Company Jaya to a Limited Liability Company (Perseroda). The legality is even outlined in Governor's Decree No. 294/2025 on the Jakarta Roadmap Towards the Top 20 Global Cities.

"Jakarta road map to becoming one of the top 20 global cities indeed emphasizes that the Global City Programs do not stand alone. Instead, they are rooted in the real needs of residents and the city's sustainable development agenda," he expressed, Tuesday (9/9).

Rano Explains Flood Mitigation and Waste Management in Jakarta

According to him, the main focus of the Global City Programs aligns with the Jakarta Government's current priority programs in terms of improving public services through strengthening digitalization of services, access to healthcare, and inclusive education. Additionally, transportation is integrated by expanding the integration of MRT, LRT, Transjakarta, and micro-mobility modes with an integrated ticketing system.

Then is improvements in environmental quality through air pollution control programs, sustainable water management, circular economy-based waste management, and the expansion of Green Open Spaces (RTH).

"With a target, Jakarta aims to become a green public space that meets global city standards while also improving residents' quality of life," he stated.
