Residents Cheerfully Welcome Revitalization of Seribu Islands Library

Local residents enthusiastically welcomed the Seribu Islands Technical Work Unit (UKT) 1's effort to revitalize the public library on Pramuka Island, Panggang Island Urban Village, North Seribu Islands Sub-district.

Hopefully, it can be finished soon

This revitalization received appreciation from one of the locals from RW 04, Panggang Island Urban Village, Dini Marlela (38).

"I am very happy to hear that the library is being revitalized; it will definitely be more comfortable and fresh. I often take my kid to the library to read and play," she expressed, Tuesday (9/9).

Another response came from a student from SD 02 Pagi Pulau Panggang, Rania Anindyadewi (8), who often visits the library with her friends.

"Hopefully, it can be finished soon so I can study together again with my friends at the public library," she explained.

Seribu Islands Library and Archives Section UKT 1 Head, Windarwati stated, the revitalization of the Seribu Islands Public Library began on August 23, 2025, and the progress has now reached 95 percent.

"This is targeted to be completed in mid-September 2025," she expressed.

According to her, this revitalization encompasses many aspects, ranging from more comfortable reading space arrangements, providing child-friendly and disability-friendly areas, to strengthening digital collections and expanding internet access.

"Besides books, residents also need space to gather, digital facilities, and friendly services. Libraries must serve as vibrant, enjoyable, and inspiring spaces," she explained.

She hoped that this library grows as both a literacy center and a community activity hub. Children can find their first storybooks, teenagers can learn and discuss, parents can expand their knowledge, and even fishermen can seek useful information.

"Hopefully, with this new face, residents can become closer to the library, more inclusive, and ready to face the challenges of the times. The library in Seribu Islands has become a meeting point for the community with knowledge as well as a place to nurture a literacy culture," she hoped.
