Pramono Calls on Public to Take Advantage of Rp1 Public Transport Fare

The Jakarta Provincial Government is offering a special fare of Rp1 for the public using Transjakarta, LRT Jakarta, and MRT Jakarta on September 17 and 19, 2025.

"...might be interested in giving it a try during this special fare period,"

This special fare marks the celebration of National Transportation Day 2025 and National Road Traffic and Transport Safety Day 2025.

"On September 17 and 19, anyone taking public transportation operated by the Jakarta Government will only need to pay Rp1," said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung at South Monas Square, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (9/18).

Coinciding with Wednesday’s policy requiring civil servants to use public transport, Pramono shared that he had tried the service himself and confirmed the special fare is in effect.

The celebration of National Transportation Day 2025 is also part of the Jakarta Government's continuous effort to improve the city's public transportation system.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo added that the special fare is also intended to promote and encourage the use of public transportation.

"This initiative also serves as a form of outreach. Hopefully, those who have never tried public transport might be interested in giving it a try during this special fare period," he explained.

He hopes the initiative will attract more people to experience the significant improvements in Jakarta's public transport system. Syafrin noted that many city's civil servants have started to enjoy and rely on public transport after trying it themselves.

The 'Public Transport Wednesdays for Civil Servants' program has also contributed to a rise in ridership, with Syafrin noting an increase of around 100,000 passengers on MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta services on Wednesdays.

Specifically, ridership on public holidays that fell on a Wednesday rose from 864,000 to 1,067,000 passengers. On regular working Wednesdays, the number increased from 1,400,000 to 1,538,000.

"So there's a noticeable increase compared to regular days, which aligns with the number of civil servants. And this is continuously being monitored by the Governor," he shared.
