Jakarta Wushu Athletes Win Three Gold Medals at POMNas XIX

Jakarta Wushu athletes played a significant role in helping secure the overall championship title.

In the competition held at the Professor Wuryanto Auditorium, Unnes Campus, Semarang, Central Java, on Tuesday morning (9/23), the Jakarta Wushu team managed to win three gold medals and three silver medals.

Jakarta Tops Medal Count at POMNas XIX with 34 Gold Medals

The gold medals were won in the Men’s Wushu Taolu Nangun + Nandao category by Lawrence Dean Kurnia; the Men’s Taolu Daoshu + Gunshu category by Melvern Liang Alianto; and the Women’s Taolu Jianshu + Qianshu category by Andrea Simon.

The silver medals were won by Arya Gita Sentosa in the Wushu Taolu Nangun + Nandao category, Kenneth Christovani Wijaya in the Men’s Taolu Daoshu + Gunshu category, and Keane McLaren in the Men’s Taolu Jianshu + Qianshu category.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency Achievement Improvement Division Acting Head, Rahman Defiandi, appreciated and thanked all Wushu athletes who competed this morning and won medals.

“The target was four gold medals in the Taolu category, and thankfully we have secured three gold medals this morning,” he shared on Tuesday (9/23).

Rahman mentioned that even as a newcomer to POMNas XIX, Wushu is anticipated to contribute significantly to the medal tally.

According to him, the medals earned by the Wushu team reflect the success of student athlete development in Jakarta, particularly in preparation for POMNas.

“I ask everyone to stay focused because there are still many categories in Wushu to be contested. Everyone must stay focused and demonstrate speed and skill to achieve perfect victories,” he said.
