I urge residents to continue using Transjakarta in their daily lives
"I urge residents to continue using Transjakarta in their daily lives for work and other activities. The fares are affordable, the service is comfortable, and safety measures are continuously being improved," he expressed, Wednesday (9/24).
He asserted that in terms of fleet, the evaluation also targets human resources aspects. It considers that driver fatigue needs to be a primary concern.
Transjakarta Partners with KNKT for Comprehensive Safety Evaluation"There must be periodic evaluations regarding the driver's driving fitness and health. Rest periods must be clear, with adequate rest spaces at least every four hours. Additionally, psychological testing and health examinations should be conducted regularly to ensure the driver is truly fit," he explained.
He also promotes the improvement of supporting facilities such as traffic signs at critical points so that drivers are more alert from afar.
"In the future, it could be every six months, or annually, so not every three years anymore," he added.
PT Transjakarta President Director, Welfizon Yuza asserted, his party continues to achieve the zero accident target.
"Our accident index continues to decline. In 2022, it was at 0.55, and by August 2025, it has decreased to 0.32. This indicates a significant improvement in safety," he explained.
He added, the human factor remains the main concern, so driver training has been intensified through TJ Academy, which started operating at the end of 2024.
"We're currently completing training for self-managed drivers, after which drivers from the operator will also be included in the TJ Academy curriculum. They will receive technical training, soft skills, and psychological preparation to better handle critical situations," he continued.
Currently, the number of Transjakarta drivers exceeds 11,000 people, with about 15 percent of them being self-employed drivers.
"All will gradually enter TJ Academy," he continued.
He emphasized that safety standards are continuously strengthened through fleet inspections, safety audits, and joint studies with stakeholders to establish stricter driver standards than general regulations.
"Jakarta towards becoming a global city. Therefore, its public transportation safety standards must also be on par with major cities worldwide," he closed.
