Number of Beggars Decrease This Year

A vigorous raid that keeps being conducted by City Administration is quite effective to minimize the number of beggar. Evidently, the number of beggar netted during Ramadhan decreases compared than previous year.

The data showed the number of beggar in capital decreases up to 50 percent

Relayed on City Social Department’s data, as much as 284 people were netted during last Ramadhan compared with this third week of Ramadhan by 41 people.

Division Head of Social Rehabilitation for City Social Department, Chaidir predicted only 82 beggars enter the city until the last week of Ramadhan.

PMKS Number in North Jakarta Declining

“Usually, on the last two week of Ramadhan the number of beggars increase, it could increase to 82 or even more 100 people. The data showed the number of beggar in capital decreases up to 50 percent,” he said through press release received by beritajakarta.com, Tuesday (7/7).

The decrease number of beggar is a domino impact of City Social Department continuity effort.

“The socialization through several media (electronic, print or social media) regarding the prohibition of giving alms on the road. Consequently, many citizens realize not to give alms to beggar on road,” he expressed.

Aside, his side also conducted controlling and monitoring in the afternoon and night over prone areas to beggars in Jakarta.

“We also guard several areas prone of People with Social Welfare Problem (PMKS) from previous 25 points become 32 points in 2015," he explained.
