Jakarta Coastal Residents Urged to Stay Alert for Tidal Flooding

Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has urged residents living in coastal areas to remain alert for potential tidal flooding between October 22 and 28, 2025.

"...anticipate the impact of high tide, which may cause tidal flooding,"

According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Maritime Meteorological Station Class I Tanjung Priok, a high tide phenomenon coinciding with the New Moon phase could increase sea levels, potentially triggering tidal flooding along Jakarta's northern coastline.

"Residents in northern coastal areas such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok, and Thousand Islands are advised to anticipate the impact of high tide, which may cause tidal flooding," said Isnawa Adji, Head of Jakarta BPBD, Wednesday (10/22).

Isnawa added that residents can monitor the latest sea wave updates at bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut.

"In case of emergencies, immediately contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 call center," he asserted.
