Jakarta Legislative Council Commission E Member, M Subki encourages the programs of the Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (DPAPP) to become more oriented toward the real needs of the community.
Urgent community needs must remain a priority
According to him, the various programs implemented by the Jakarta government are good, but they need to be continuously strengthened for optimal utilization, especially for women and children.
"We want their program to directly reach the people more effectively. The clear indicator of success is when the rates of violence against women and children decrease," he expressed, at City Council building, Tuesday (10/28).
PPAPP Agency Gears Up to Provide Psychosocial Child AssistanceHe appreciates DPAPP's efforts in establishing the Sahabat Perempuan dan Anak (SAPA) posts as places for complaints and assistance for residents.
He hoped that the service could be strengthened by increasing the number of psychologists so that residents could more easily access assistance when facing social issues or violence.
"Adding psychologists in the field is very important to strengthen direct services. By so, they can more easily report problems and receive assistance at SAPA posts," he explained.
He asserted, the legislative will keep supporting executive efforts to expand the reach of social services, despite the limited local financial conditions.
"Despite the financial situation is difficult, urgent community needs must remain a priority. Programs that have a direct impact on residents must continue to be maintained and strengthened," he stated.
