Penjaringan Sub-district SDA Executing Unit Head, Pendi said, the normalization of this 12-meter-long channel is a follow-up to the proposal made during the City Council Legislator, Bebizie Sri Mulyati's recess visit.

Channels in Ujung Menteng Being Normalized to Prevent Flooding

He explained, the current work is in the demolition stage, and a 40 HD U-ditch will be installed later. The channel, measuring one meter wide and 145 centimeters high, is being constructed manually.

"The work has been ongoing since October 28, 2025, and is targeted to be completed in two weeks," he explained.

His side continues to intensify drainage system monitoring to ensure proper functioning. Further, personnel have also been deployed to dredge at each location to prevent flooding during heavy rains.

He urged residents to help maintain the cleanliness of the environment and not to throw trash into the drainage system so that the system can operate optimally.

"Our efforts will be futile if they are unwilling to actively participate in maintaining environmental cleanliness," he stressed.

The effort received thanks and appreciation from one of the residents, Aditya Prayogo (44).

"Thank you for fixing the channel. Hopefully, our area won't flood again," he hoped.
