Disability Job Fair Highlights Jakarta's Commitment to Inclusive Employment

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially opened the 2025 Disability Job Fair held at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Central Jakarta, on Monday (11/3).

"...encourage companies to adopt inclusive employment practices,"

In his remarks, Pramono reaffirmed the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment  to providing real and concrete roles for people with disabilities in the city.

This commitment is reflected in initiatives like opening Difabis cafés in government buildings to support disability empowerment.

Vertical Housing Transformation Must Be Disability-Friendly and Socially Just

"For me personally, people with disabilities must be given meaningful and concrete roles," he expressed.

In commemoration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to building a more inclusive and equitable employment ecosystem, which is expected to benefit not only people with disabilities, but also the city government.

“This will bring positive outcomes not only for people with disabilities but also for residents and especially for the Jakarta Government itself,” he added.

Pramono noted that the previous job fair had successfully placed around 150 job seekers with disabilities. To improve their employment prospects, the Jakarta Government also plans to provide upskilling program to enhance their skills.

“That's why I've asked Manpower Agency Head to focus not only on job matching, but also on upskilling,” he shared.

Governor conveyed his hope that every Jakarta resident will have equal access to employment opportunities. With Jakarta's economic growth reaching 5.18 percent, it is also expected to bring positive impact for people with disabilities.

He also stressed that people with disabilities must not face discrimination in employment, in accordance with existing laws and regulations.

Jakarta's commitment to inclusivity is evident in initiatives like the Disability Card program, White Troops assistance for the vulnerable, and free access to transportation.

“We specifically provide training for the White Troops to assist people with disabilities,” he mentioned.

However, Pramono acknowledged that facilities for people with disabilities still require improvement, particularly at several bus stops. He reiterated the city's commitment to enhancing accessibility for people with disabilities.

Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta's Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy (Nakertransgi) Agency, Syaripudin, stated that the event, themed 'Unlimited Opportunities, Opening Pathways for All,' is part of the city government's commitment to promoting inclusive and equitable employment.

"This event aims to provide job opportunities for job seekers with disabilities and encourage companies to adopt inclusive employment practices," he explained.

The event also serves to connect job seekers with disabilities to companies, facilitate direct recruitment, enhance their competence and self-reliance through information and skills training, and support companies in implementing inclusive employment in Jakarta.

The job fair features 21 companies offering 107 job opportunities for people with disabilities. Meanwhile, the upskilling program were attended by 80 participants and include various classes such as marketing, public speaking, and batik-making.
