Aritificial Lake will Be Built in Cakung Barat Soon

An artificial lake (embung) will be built in the RW 07 area, Cakung Barat Urban Village, Cakung Sub-district, in the 2026 Fiscal Year.

This is a must to anticipate flooding

East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA)'s Planning Section Head, Fajar Avisena said, the construction of the embung has already gone through the discussion stage at the city level.

"Embung will be built on land with an area of approximately 1,200 square meters, equipped with supporting facilities," he expressed, Thursday (11/13).

He explained, another facility to be built in the area is Batavia Hospital, with an area of approximately 1.4 hectares.

"We also plan to build an integrated area soon, including the construction of sports arenas, the Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) office, apartment buildings, and other public facilities," he explained.

This embung construction received appreciation from a resident on Jalan Pook PPD, RT 02/07, Cakung Barat Urban Village, Jainal (41).

"This is a must to anticipate flooding," he explained.

Another resident, Nuraini (61) assessed, construction is very urgent, as it can help overcome flooding around residential areas that usually occurs during heavy rains.

"This is an important solution for controlling rainwater and preventing flooding in the surrounding area," he stated.
