He expressed this statement when attending a river cleanup action on Ciliwung inspection street, Cikoko, Pancoran, South Jakarta on Friday (11/21).

He explained, rivers have become one of the global assessment indicators to evaluate Jakarta as a global city. Hence, river normalization efforts are one of the main priorities to be undertaken.
Aside that, the government is also working to optimize the river, one of which is by developing Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in Dukuh Atas, which will begin in early January 2026. Meanwhile, the area below it, the Ciliwung River, will be optimized to become a new hub for Jakarta residents to conduct activities.

Public Works Minister, Dodi Hanggodo uttered this river cleanup activity is held as a kick-off or opening event for the Public Works Day's 80th anniversary 2025. The event carries the theme "Equitable Infrastructure, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia".
"We start this kick-off on the banks of the Ciliwung River. The starting point of the river exploration series that will unfold in various regions throughout Indonesia. It is this river basin area that will become the beginning of our national movement," he explained.
On this occasion, he expressed appreciation for the initiative of Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, in managing the rivers. The Ministry of Public Works is ready to provide full support to ensure the efforts run smoothly.
"This river is full of mud, causing narrowing. And finally, there was a flood. That's why I truly appreciate the efforts made by the governors," he uttered.
According to him, a river is not just a flow of water, but a living space for the community, a space for social interaction, and an environmental education space for future generations.
So, his party wants to invite all parties to better understand the condition of the river, recognize the importance of cleanliness, and foster a commitment to preserving its sustainability.
