Improving Service, Palyja Strengthens Related Agencies Cooperation

To keep pace with population growth in line with the needs of clean water in the capital, PT PAM Lyonnaise Jaya (Palyja) as the clean water supplier in West Jakarta will cooperate with related agency to improve the clean water distribution for the residents.

"Based on PAM Jaya survey with two operators, we had deficit up to 9,100 liters per second because we can only supply 17 thousand liters of water per second from the number of requests which reached 26,100 per second," told Palyja Main Director, Jacques Manem, Thursday (7/9).

Jacques admitted, to meet all demand, the drinking water supply in the capital requires commitment and strong partnerships between relevant agencies.

"We already formed cooperation with Jakarta Provincial Government, PAM Jaya and Public Works Ministry. We also cooperate with police in addressing water theft," he explained.

During 17 years operation, Jacques continued, the results achieved by PT Palyja are the result of partnership and supports from various agencies. "However, the commitment and partnership must be continued and strengthened in order to realize the plan that provides water services to reach 95 percent in 2020," he explained.

Jacques added, Palyja has managed to reduce the number of water leakage (non-revenue water) from 59.4 percent in 1998 to 39.6 percent at the end of 2014.

Besides that, Palyja also improved more than 33 thousand leaks including 5000 leaks that did not appear and save 3.01 million cubic meters of water per year.

"We also managed to increase the number of poor customer significantly up to 682 percent from 9585 in 1998 to 74,298 customers or from 60 thousand to 500 thousand residents in 2014. We also succeeded in increasing the volume of water sold to 159 million cubic meters at the end of 2014," he uttered.
