Gubernur Pramono memberikan keterangan pers setelah kegiatan Townhall Meeting

Pramono Instructs His Staff to Be on Alert for Extreme Weather Conditions

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung instructed all regional officials and related agencies to increase readiness in facing the potential of heavy rainfall and tidal floods approaching the end of the year.

Early preparation is indeed a must

Pramono conveyed the statement during the Townhall Meeting with sub-district heads and urban village heads and the Sub-district Leaders Coordinating Forum (Forkopimcam) at the Balai Agung Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (12/3).

He highlighted the prediction by the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) regarding the potential increase in rainfall, which is expected to occur from the second week of December 2025 to January 2026. The rainfall is even predicted to reach over 200 to 300 mm per day, which could cause floods in Jakarta.

Jakarta Improves Preparedness for Extreme Weather Anticipation

"Therefore, early preparation is indeed a must," he explained.

This condition is also accompanied by estimates of high tide flooding in December. Hence, he has instructed the Water Resources Agency (SDA) to ensure all pumps are operating optimally.

Additionally, the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) is also requested to immediately conduct weather modification as a mitigation effort, especially when rainfall is predicted to exceed 200 mm.

In front of the sub-district and urban village heads, he emphasized the need for early preparation in the field to address the potential occurrence of flooding.

"Immediately report if there are any channels malfunctioned. Whether it is your responsibility or the responsibility of SDA, and so on, it must be coordinated immediately," he asserted.

Pramono also emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination with the community, including utilizing the functions of places of worship, such as mosques and churches as early warning facilities for disasters.

Sub-district and urban village heads are also asked to be present in the field to provide a sense of comfort and security to residents.

"And if necessary, a joint post or integrated post should be established in the field, because our infrastructure is already functioning relatively well," he uttered.

On this occasion, the Governor also emphasized that the Jakarta government will continue the normalization program of Krukut and Ciliwung rivers. This effort is to prevent the impact of flooding disasters in Jakarta.

"So, I have decided to normalize the Krukut River, and to continue with the normalization of the Ciliwung," he closed.
