Disaster Response Preparedness Strengthened

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality of its disaster management human resources to provide the best possible service to the public. This also ensures Jakarta is increasingly prepared and resilient in the face of various potential disasters.

One of the efforts is holding the Capacity Building Program for Disaster Management Personnel (P2B) at the Cibubur Scout Campground and Tourism Center (Buperta) in Cimanggis District, Depok City, West Java. The four-day program is attended by 267 P2B personnel divided into three groups.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Zaini Miftah, said that this capacity building activity is run to strengthen and improve intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical strength, speed of handling, and mental toughness.

"This activity also ensures the disaster preparedness of Disaster Management Personnel in facing various potential emergency situations in Jakarta and other areas," he said, Monday (12/8).

He added that participants are provided with disaster management materials through a number of theories and quality field practices according to disaster management needs.

He explained that the activities carried out are to build discipline, togetherness, and physical endurance; Water & Vertical Rescue as technical training for rescue in water and high terrain; the Baret Search Mission aims to hone navigation and agility skills.

Moreover, participants are also provided with Faith and Piety Strengthening, Disaster Science and Technology Strengthening, Refugee Tent Establishment, and Logistics Distribution.

"Building teamwork, a spirit of togetherness, empathy, coordination, and team cohesion," he stated.
