Lapangan Merah Retention Basin in Jagakarsa Inaugurated to Tackle Flood

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially inaugurated Lapangan Merah Retention Basin in Srengseng Sawah, Jagakarsa, on Tuesday (12/9). On this occasion, Pramono once again emphasized the importance of maintaining public facilities that have been built.

"Lapangan Merah Retention Basin is now officially ready to use,"

"Lapangan Merah Retention Basin is now officially ready to use. I hope we don't end up being able to build but unable to take care of things properly," he asserted.

He explained that the retention basin covers an area of 4,945 square meters, with a depth of four meters and a storage capacity of 9,890 cubic meters. It has a catchment area of 87.55 hectares and serves as a flood control measure for the surrounding area.

"I see its role as very significant. The location is strategic, as it borders the Universitas Indonesia and Depok," he mentioned.

For context, the retention basin was constructed in 2023, while the landscape architecture was developed in 2025 to also serve as a recreational space for local residents.

Lapangan Merah Retention Basin features a range of facilities for public use, including an outdoor gym, children's playground area, jogging track, floating gazebo, reflexology stone path, fishing zone, toilets, and a prayer room.

Pramono expressed his hope that the retention basin would bring benefits to the community and mark the beginning of efforts to build a cleaner and healthier living space.
